MLB Draft Thread

Riley Pint is a HS RHP projected to go in the top 10 or so. He is one of the subjects in a book I just read by Jeff Passan called "The Arm." Good read.

He's the kid from Kansas City that has already been clocked at 102. His father played collegiate baseball somewhere, too. I think Pint committed to LSU.

Senzel is the safest pick, power is his only concern.

Pint is a LSU commit.

Delvin Perez has failed a drug test.

Delvin Perez has failed a drug test.

As did UK's Javon Shelby.

My hope, and it's an absolute pipe-dream, is that Perez's positive PED test causes him to fall to the Reds at #35. That would be insane.

Buzz all last night was that the Phillies are going with Moniak or Lewis. I'll probably throw something if the Reds draft Puk. Complete waste of the pick IMO.

I'd prefer a bat, too, but if the Reds think he's a #1 or #2 starter, then I can't complain. It wouldn't be bad having a 6'7'' lefty in the rotation.

Like most of you I agree, it would be nice to have a bat. The MLB draft is such a crap shoot you take the best available player on your draft board. If it's a SP then so be it.

If Puk goes first who do you all want Lewis or Senzel? I like Lewis.

MLB.com's morning of mock has the Phillies going Moniak and the Reds sticking with Senzel.

Lewis's power is intriguing, but he strikes out a lot against lower competition. I think he's got the most upside of the college bats, but I think Senzel is the more can't miss, safer pick. I see a .270-.285 avg, with 15 HRs, 75 RBI as a likely line for a guy like him. That'll play almost anywhere.
