I would let Finnegan continue as a starter for a period of time. However, I am pretty sure he is on an Innings limit. Therefore, at some point in time, they will need to shut him down as a starter. Because of that, there may come a time during the season where it makes sense to move him to the bullpen to finish the year.

 

Lorenzen is who I would prefer to try as closer over Finnegan.

The fact that he couldn't get out of the 4th or 5th inning kind of did him in as a starter.

No, then teams realized he had only one decent pitch, his fastball, and couldn't throw strikes. You're useless as a starter if you can't make it to the 5th inning due to inability to throw strikes.
