Any idea why the change in the first round game times? Girl's is the same way.

 

I asked on a girls thread. The response was that KHSAA took travel time in to consideration. So I guess it's an attempt to increase attendance.

Here are your 2016 Kentucky Sweet 16 Teams:

 

Region 1 - Murray

 

Region 2 - Christian County

 

Region 3 - Owensboro Catholic

1st Round matchups according to the KHSAA website, but if you look closely at the bracket you will see that it is all messed up, so it's questionable whether or not these are accurate. The times and bracket positions are out of whack and I have nothing to compare it to for accuracy.

So do people think this is a strong year for KY basketball or is more of a year that there is a lot of parity that creates a lot of intriguing matchups but maybe not the best caliber basketball? I'm leaning towards the parity side. From the nearly 20 games I saw this year, I would say that overall talent is down but that has led to many upsets.

Man, I see what should be some really good 1st round matchups. The Murray/Buckhorn game, while probably not two of the stronger teams in the group, should provide I think for an exciting game.

 

Dunbar/Mercer first round...that should be exciting and I hope I can be there for that one.

 

Lawrence Co. and Doss has the makings of a good opening round game.

 

Mason and Taylor again could be a really good matchup.

 

This has the makings to be a really fun, exciting tournament!

Looking forward to attending again this year.

I think the exciting part about this year is definitely the parity. The last few years have certainly been more talented. Just look at the number of D1 commits this year to last year. I think this state tournament will be great though. Even with the talent level being down there are some very good teams and some great players.

When will the sweet 16 teams be ranked? Will be interesting to see it.
