Morgan Co. 28 Nicholas Co. 6

Actually the score was 28-14...but really didn't seem to be that close of a game...Nicholas scored vs. Cougar reserves late.

Morgan Co. played without one of thier best playmakers and leading scorer from last season West Montgomery, the all state candidate had a family committment in Missouri.

Morgan's Derrick Young had once again a few mind boggling runs of running over defenders....

1st year QB John Robert Henderson REALLY looked good settling in at QB...speed and athleticsm is great...reminds me of Andy Lewis of 2004.

Joey Fletcher showed great strength and speed on D-line.

MLB Mike Paul Fugate suffered a knee injury and is ? for Friday vs. Rowan.

Also, keep prayers for Morgan Co. Sophomore Ryan Buckler...Buckler was Morgan's starting Center as a Freshman last year...Smart, instinctive, and fundamental was going to be a big part of the Cougar offensive line and linebacking corp...he has some heart issues and while watching the game from the sidelines experienced chest pain...I know the BGP community will be thinking of Ryan and get well wishes.

Cougars also hope to get healthy Jonathan Lopez and Logan May who should provide valuable athleticism and depth.

Morgan Co. opens up next Friday at home vs. Rowan County.

Morgan is coming ... If they stay on track , one day they will beat the Devils in the ditch , but not this year ... The better you folks get , the better we all get ... Morgan kids play hard and have a good scheme , which means well coached and things are clicking ...

Ps .. Morgan fans are always friendly ....

Sorry about posting the wrong score. I lost a little focus toward the end and was just talking to the crowd too much. Nets gave a pretty good summary. Defense gave up some yards to the outside, but really hustled to the ball and gang tackled.

Hope the Buckler kid is ok.

I had to hustle in my post to go MOW! What a birthday present that is;)

Credit should be given to Nicholas County for battling...they were bigger than Morgan, had some nice talented athletes and a whole more kids dressed out to play...they seem to be headed in the right direction. Their coach seemed passionate about his goals and for his team and wish them the best this season.

The Mynheir kid is a great athlete.

Also, Brandon Ward #44 6'0" 195 lbs. Sophomore really ran the football well...Cougars have multiple offensive weapons and are definitely not 1 dimensional.

Still amazed at the strength of Derrick Young:eek:

Great comments and post cville, something like this puts everything in to perpective. Prayers are going out from this old rambler for R. Buckler and family.

First, the well wishes for Ryan Buckler and family are appreciated I'm certain. He was released late last night and returned home. Will have some more tests coming up this week. I was hoping for return this week for #65 but the most important thing is his health.

Second, as far as the cake thing at the Olive Garden today....I should've guessed who was behind that little deal:fight:

"We are Morgan, we eat Sorghum" Classic cheer from yester-year!

For you Russell fans, the Russell-Morgan County sporting events have been classics over the years, recently in football the Cougars have become a respectable and formidable opponent for the Red Devils and the same sentiments go to the Russell faithful in that they are wonderful hosts in Flatwoods for a game, friendly at Morgan Co. and enjoy the atmosphere and fellowship between the two schools. Maybe why Russell likes us is because they've beaten us every year!

I guess two touchdown or more margins are respectable.:p

2005 35-14

2004 34-14

50-19

Hey Cubbie....you know lashyear Morgan Co. had the game tied in the 4th quarter when Young scampered 25 yards for the TD...would have been 21-21 and Devils on the ropes..but was called back for block in back...(It was a good call although close, no complaints on the call) Russell capped it off later...big momentum swing...game was closer than score! Year before Big M..."you know the rest" had the lead at Russell at the half...

GSK Cub:laugh:

Good tailgating for Playoff game, right cubbie? You downed about 8 pork BBQ sandwiches and enjoyed breaking bread with the Morganites:ylsuper:
