Fern Creek 60 Bullitt East 50 (24th District Championship)

Featured Replies

It has been a while since BE has not won the 24th District Championship, but from the middle of the 2nd quarter they fell behind by 10 and it never changed much from there. Ahmad Price was racking up rebounds and finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

All the credit to the Fern Creek team & coaches but shots that Bullitt East makes 90% of the time just didn't fall. The rebounds had to be 2-1 in favor of Fern creek also. Hopefully Bullitt East can bounce back & use this game as motivation to take nothing for granted going forward. Nothing like some humble pie to change outlooks...

I didn't like the way East had played the last half of the season. There must be something internal going on. Fern Creek outtoughed East tonight. That should not happen with a senior laden team.

I agree with both of the stated comments above. I also scratch my head over the way East has finished the 2nd half of the season. Fern Creek definitely outplayed the Chargers last night, especially on the boards, they obviously wanted it more!

I hate being repetitive, but I also scratch my head over the mass substitution pattern by the BE coaching staff...I shall say one more time...U "cannot" have 3 to 4 subs in at the same time for an extended period of time against this type of competition.

A) U will give up a big run

B) U will give up the flow of the game

C) U have just handed your opponent confidence with an added edge.

Tough games magnify any inconsistencies that a team has. Bullitt East has several. Fern Creek beat them in every aspect of the game. Now Bullitt East will get a chance to respond in regionals.

I agree, Fern Creek came to play last night and BE never got into an offensive flow. Alot of that had to do with FC defensive pressure and the speed of FC provided alot of easy buckets under the basket. FC has been anything but consistant this year, it will be interesting to see if they can continue to play at this level. BE has all the pieces to get to the big dance, they better start figuring out how to fit them all together.

Both the 6th and the 7th regionals should be great with both having no clear cut favorite at this stage.

Bullitt East got the best draw they could of hoped for.

They stayed away from Doss which I would agree is a major threat, but PRP is a much different ball club and on a tear right now. Throw in Dale Mabrey & staff in the post season and it is not the club I would want to face. The best scenario would have been winning the region and getting North Bullitt on the same half as the other #1 seed. But now you have to face a rival in round 1 and then come back to face an improving PRP team.

But I agree it was about as best as could be hoped for. Doss seems to be the team most everyone agrees has a chance to repeat going to Rupp.
