Jesse James Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Georgia Senate passes religious freedom bill - CNNPolitics.com Senate has passed it 38-14. Senate 161-0. Being debated now. What say ye?
spindoc Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 I just don't get it. First, I thought our country was founded on religious freedom, so the naming of this bill is conspicuous at best. Also, I know several pastors/ministers who have refused to marry folks, for various reasons. And lastly, if you're employed by our government and perform the ritual or administer the licenses and you have an issue with it religiously, get a different job. It's not that friggin hard. If you own a bar, and are religiously opposed to alcohol consumption, sell the bar.
spindoc Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 And one other thing. If you have to pass legislation that ensures businesses are "allowed" to remain closed on Saturdays or Sundays if it conflicts with their religious beliefs, maybe Georgia is more screwed up than I imagined.
mcpapa Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Georgia. Says it all for me. Didn't have to look any further (but I did).
BlueTip Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 Georgia state motto - Hey, well, at least we're not Alabama.
