Pope says that in light of the Zika virus outbreak in Latin America, contraception is the lesser of two evils.

 

"Pope Francis suggested that contraceptives may be used to prevent the spread of the Zika virus, despite the church's longstanding ban on most forms of birth control.

 

His comments may cheer health officials in Latin America but are likely to upset conservative Catholics.

 

At a press conference aboard a flight from Mexico to Rome on Thursday, the Pope was asked whether the church should consider contraception the "lesser of two evils" compared with the possibility of women aborting fetuses infected with Zika. The virus has been linked to an incurable and often devastating neurological birth defect."

I know a lot of devout Catholics who use birth control for very different reasons.

 

Women over the age of 35 have a greater risk of having children with chromosomal abnormalities. They aren't given permission to use birth control.

 

The Catholic Church needs to revisit the whole birth control issue.

Why did these scientists create genetically modified mosquitoes and inject them with a vaccine that was a combination of killed viruses? This virus was then to sterilize the infected mosquito who then was supposed to die quickly to prevent the possibility of spreading tropical fevers. However the scientists did not take into account in its study, what if mosquitoes were exposed to tetracycline in gmo animal feed. Which then allowed the mosquitoes to survive the initial viruses and began infecting humans. I know this sounds way out there, but its how I began to understand how this limited virus that we've known existed for at least decades to suddenly became a huge contributor to the birth defects problems we now are dealing with. If someone can explain this better please correct me.
