February 4, 201610 yr Author That A&M at Vandy game tonight should be really good. I wouldn't be shocked in the least to see the 'Dores get the win.

February 15, 201610 yr How does Louisville lose to 2 unranked teams and only drop one spot, and Kentucky beat two unranked teams and jump 9 spots?
February 15, 201610 yr How does Louisville lose to 2 unranked teams and only drop one spot' date=' and Kentucky beat two unranked teams and jump 9 spots?[/quote'] Well I see Duke was ranked 17th. I'm not sure I get these rankings.
February 15, 201610 yr Author How does Louisville lose to 2 unranked teams and only drop one spot, and Kentucky beat two unranked teams and jump 9 spots? Road wins have a big impact on the RPI because they count for 1.4 wins. Conversely, road losses are .6 of a loss, not that painful. UK's RPI and BPI both went up significantly.
February 17, 201610 yr Author West Virginia and Iowa State both go down on the road last night. I will say this, the Big 12 has had more really good games this year than any other league. Beyond KU and OU, I don't think any of them can stop a soul, but the games are great.
February 17, 201610 yr Author 6 Top 25 teams are on the road tonight, and 2 of them are at other ranked teams (Providence at Xavier and Duke at UNC). Could be a fun night of hoops.
February 18, 201610 yr Author 6 Top 25 teams are on the road tonight, and 2 of them are at other ranked teams (Providence at Xavier and Duke at UNC). Could be a fun night of hoops. Umm...yeah...last night didn't disappoint. Based on games this weekend, there will be a lot of movement in the polls and the rankings on Monday. Man, I don't know how you don't fall completely in love with college basketball.
March 7, 201610 yr Author I wanted to do one last composite ranking as we head into the conference tournaments, and to clean it up, I've taken Louisville and SMU out of the rankings since they can't play in the NCAA Tourney. What you'll find now, not surprisingly, as there are large gaps between chunks of teams. Like nearly all computer rankings, the further into the season you go, the more accurate they become, and I think a composite of them is even more so the case. Will be interesting to see how the Elite 8 looks on this ranking -- I bet they are all on here...or at least the vast majority of them will be on here. 1. Virginia (58 points) -- the collapse of last year still lingers for me, can they score enough to win in NCAA's? 2. Kansas (55) -- I've said since November I think they are the best and most complete team in the country. 3. Villanova (53) -- Obviously elephant in the room is recent struggles in March. 4. North Carolina (48) -- I think they are the 2nd best team in the country. Can they make shots? 5. Oklahoma (45) -- Best player, and several solid pieces. Like Lon a lot. Should go deep. 6. Michigan St. (43) -- A GREAT player and Izzo, plus they guard you and can rebound. 7. West Virginia (40) -- very good defensively, frenetic enough on offense to bother you. Sleeper? 8. Xavier (33) -- I'm still not buying them making a run. Lack of a stud and poor perimeter defense. 9. Miami (FL) (32) -- Also not buying them making a run. 10. Kentucky (31) -- when you have Ulis, Murray, and Cal, it is hard not to take them deep on your brackets. 11. Oregon (28) -- They seem like one of those first weekend casualties to me. 12. Purdue (22) -- Love their front-court, don't love Painter. With solid matchups, could win 2 games. 13. Duke (21) -- Zero depth, solid play on the wings, lack of a solid PG will be an issue. Coach K is good. 14. Arizona (21) -- Not Sean's best team, but Kaleb is a beast and York is a big time shooter. 15. Indiana (21) -- Have to tip your cap to this team, have really come together in B1G play. 16. Iowa State (14) -- LOVE Niang. They don't have a lot of options, and zero games in Ames from now on. 17. Utah (13) -- a GREAT player, a solid coach, and they play really hard. Maybe two wins? 18. Wichita State (11) -- IF they get in, and I think they will, have solid and experienced guards. 19. Maryland (11) -- great PG, really good big, but they look bad heading into March. 20. California (10) -- give Cuonzo credit, they have been playing very well. Depth, but no stud, could get 2 wins. Next up are Texas A&M (not buying them winning two games), Iowa (match-up problem, they'll be a handful for someone on a quick turnaround, so could sneak into 2nd week), Dayton (scrappy, under-sized, but no one wants to play them in the dance). This is, in many respects, the BEST week of the year. Let's go!
