Qryche11 Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Congrats to the Bearcats taking the hardware in the Holy Cross Christmas Tourney.
mexitucky Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 WV has had a run of really nice players. Unfortunately for the Cats, the players have left for other schools. Hopefully for Grant, these guys stick around. With his coaching ability, they will be major players in the 8th.

This is a core of kids who have been playing together for the past 5-6 yrs atleast and a couple sprinkled in that have moved to the District (Miles and Bromwell) as far as I know. They play very well as a team and are well coached. I think Grant has to be very happy with what he has coming down the pike.
Mustang Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Pretty nice accomplishment to beat this St. Henry team by 16. Do the Bearcats have any freshmen moved up?

se7ens Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 St. Henry was coming off a game at 4 against Holy Cross that they won by 2 in a hard fought physical game. Walton easily beat NCC in the morning. So even though Walton executed well and clearly deserved the win, St. Henry was exhausted.
Hands & Feet Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 WV has 8 freshman playing JV & 4 dressing varsity. Four of the players have played together since first grade. In addition Coach Sullivan goes 11 deep most games & spreads the game minutes around to allow all the players to develop. Even with that, they are undefeated & typically are up 15 to 20 points on area teams when the starters are completely taken out if the game is out of reach or they are preparing for a jv game. These guys can all play, but what makes them special is they play as a team. Seven of them (along with one other player) played a competitive AAU schedule last year & won or placed in several tournaments including KY's D1 division. They are a tight knit group & are good "kids".
Mustang Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 WV has 8 freshman playing JV & 4 dressing varsity. I take this to read, No, there are no freshmen moved up. However eight of the freshmen on the freshmen team double back with the JV team, and four also dress with the varsity. Is that accurate??? These groups only come along occasionally - Enjoy them!!!!
TheSteelCat Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 That is correct Mustang, none are strictly jv. They all practice with the freshman squad majority of the week and play up on noghts that jv has a game. They have held their own on the jv level as well as they see 90% of the minutes on the jv level collectively. They're bodies will have to develop to compete at the varsity level, this upcoming summer will tell the story...
