The Daily Independent 2015 All-Area Teams

Congrats to all who were selected. Ashland's Quinton Baker and Johnson Central's Jim Matney were chosen as Large School All-Area Player and Coach of the year, respectively. Paintsville's Kash Daniel and Joe Chirico won those awards for the Small School division.

How are these voted on?

The players are chosen by the coaches, the player of the year and coach of the year are chosen by the Sport Writers, if I'm not mistaken.

Coaches nominate players. Coaches vote but can't vote for their own kids.

Coaches only nominate and vote. They don't get to pick who they get on from their team for football.

Congrats to all. Love seeing 7 of our kids on the team.

While we are at it: when it comes to high school sports coverage, I challenge anyone to find a newspaper that does a better job then The Independent.
