If Hammonds leaves Bracken Co., who might take over?

Featured Replies

You can forget Hinson. He has a real shot to make a difference in Maysville with the saints. I don't think he want's that pressure of returning home to take over at the Ice Palace. He's also on his way to becoming a teacher at St. Pat also, so it looks like the Saints have a made a real commitment to Hinson.

Where is Hammonds going? I must have missed that. Has he taken another job? Is he still going to be AD?

I read the next thread, so I guess that answer my question.

If it wasn't for the fact his dad is the Super at BC i would think they would look for Jamey Johnson to return home. He was a Polar Bear, and played his ball under assistant superI, Dan Fisher. In house for one year seems risky to me!

I don't think the administration will hire "in-house" for one seasonunless that is the only possible scenario. The short list of candidates has to have among them someone willing to take over their own program. That is what all assistants strive for, to be the man in charge!

I have heard that Brad Riley would be considered for the job.

Brad is a great young Christian man with a great basketball knowledge. He is still a resident of Bracken County and would do a great job.

I have heard some rumblings about 2 other assistants in the region that's all and neither were Brad Riley. I just don't think from what I have heard he is what they are looking for and I don't think being an alumnus of BCHS will help him at all. He has primarily been involved in girls basketball and there is a difference between the two. It would be hard to turn your boys program over to a coach in his first head coaching stint who comes straight from the girls background. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE girls basketball and coached at the HS level, but there is a difference!

How are they different? I mean I know boys are more athletic and quicker, but the fundamentals are still the same and the players still have to execute whatever plays the coach wants.

The fundamentals are the same I agree and the players have to execute. However, ask any coach who has coached both and they will tell you that there is a difference between coaching the two, a big difference. It is in the way you handle players mainly, there is a big difference there. I am not saying it can't be done, it happens quite often, but there is a difference and that is a fact!

Bracken County is optimistic that they may have this coaching position taken care of in the next few days, I have been informed there is a small list of candidates! I wait w/anticipation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
