Why the distance between Ryle and Holmes? They just played and it ended with a 4 point victory that seemed to be a tale of two halves.

I would take Holmes the 2nd time around by 8 plus. Sheer athleticism. I almost put Highlands before Ryle. Still gonna take a little more to convince me Ryle is a great team and not a very solid team with great pieces.

the 9th is extremely competitive. Ryle has played some of the best teams in Northern Kentucky really well. Hard to stack any of them up at this point. Should have a clearer picture once we hit the new year...

I could agree with all that. As I am a HHS fan and confident they will be ready for the post season, I think they are still coming together with some of the newer players that will play roles on the team by year's end. They are also still missing a very good athlete for a few more weeks. So I'm not sure where they would fall if they were playing top teams right now. I think we'll see the real HHS come January. Til then, nothing would surprise me.

 

I do think Ryle is much improved and that Holmes isn't as far in front of the pack as most might think. Not a knock on Holmes, just feel they can be a little more vulnerable than last year. And saying they aren't as far ahead really isn't an insult. The 9th region is good! A ton of talent! But for Holmes, half court offense and shooting may be their achilles. As they get in to the heart of their schedule, they will get tested and we'll see how if all turns out. Again, not hating, just think those two things could end up being their demise at some point. They are the most athletic and that goes a long way and makes them the favorite. Just not sold that there is that much distance between them and the pack or the second tier teams.

Holmes only offense is their defense. Which is not a bad thing in girl's basketball but good coaches in the 9th will adjust to this come February.

As everyone knows I agree that Holmes right now is the top dog in the 9th, no pun intended. Until they are beat it's there's to lose, that being said I honestly believe any of the top 5 teams whomever that may be could beat each other on any given night. This regional tourney is going to be a really fun one to take in!

Couldn't agree more and they deserve the top spot.

Holmes is getting ready to play in a couple of tournaments out of town over the holidays, and should be tested. As a Bulldog guy, I am glad to see these young ladies get some attention, but I agree with many others, including RCC9 that Holmes really needs to work on the half court game. As for the current ranking, I would have Holmes, Highlands and then Ryle. I really think these three teams are really good, from there, just not sure, I never count Noter Dame out and Holy Cross will continue to get better. Conner and Cooper can also be dangerous. I hope all the teams stay healthy and let the best team represent the 9. Good luck ladies.
