I am not going to hammer you, or even disagree with you. You are right. However, I want to say this too.....the kid plays thru his mistakes. Some kids don't. But he most certainly does. He believes in himself. That is a pretty special quality, and we are lucky to have him. Also, never seen even a hint that his teammates also don't believe in him. If we can't have a quaterback who is perfect, give me one just like the one we have.

 

I agree MayfieldFan.... with a strong off season these kids will be bigger, stronger, and faster.-- don't question 4 time champs.

Funny conversation I had with a coach when asked what he is gonna do now that the season is over, he said, "Well, for the next 2 weeks we rent a van and head down to FL, GA, LA, MS, TX and check out the recruits", funny stuff.

I seen the comment about I wish Steven Hatchell was here to sort it all out... Lets keep in mind Joe Morris rebuilt the whole feeder program etc... He has been here last two years without Hatchell... Why would we discredit Joe Morris... Yes he did not do this alone... But I think we are headed into last year before he can retire... I hope to God that the man who gets the job after Joe Morris... Is the man that has helped us win these championships... That is Coach Dew... He knows how to get the job done. He knows how to bring the team chemistry together... If he does not get the job after Morris... There will allot of unhappy people in Mayfield because he will be rolling out to coach against us... Hatchell is a great offensive coordinator he did a great job at Murray State as QB. But coach Dew was Defensive team Captain as D1 school... A SEC D1 not school... I mean come on thats a no brainer... Yes Hatchell is huge help, but Coach Dew is the man behind Joe Morris and he will continue our winning tradition...

Is it August yet? I'm really looking forward to next year! I think CAL has a lot returning I'd like to play them. EVEN IF we were lucky enough to 5

 

Mayfield 1, CAL 2. CAL only lost 9 players from this year's team. They will have the best player in 2A next year, and he will only be a sophomore...and it's NOT the QB! DeSales will look night-and-day different next year. We will be trading a lot of size for a lot of speed. I didn't like that idea until we played Mayfield, now I'm putting more credence in the speed factor and beginning to think prospects for next year are better than I thought. Having 90 on your roster means it's simply a matter of being the next guy's turn. Our "next guys" are REALLY fast. We will still have a lot of size, but we won't RELY on our size. Our QB will be perhaps the best athlete on the team. If the speed guys can play, we will be in the mix by the end of the year, but will probably take some lumps early.

I said 'wouldn't it be great' as a tongue-in-cheek aside to the rumors of Hatchell's return that always seem to be circulating. Let's be clear, there is no bigger fan of the MF coaching staff than me. I have said on these very forums that I believe we have the best coaching staff in the state and I wouldn't want my children playing anywhere else or for anyone else (you can find my comments in the MF vs Desales game thread). Morris, Dew, Champion, Ferris and the gang are as good as it gets at what they do. I would never attempt to discredit them and it distresses me that it may have been taken that way. Joe has indicated himself that there will always be a spot open for Hatchell on his staff. Were that to happen, he would just be icing on what is already the best baked cake in the state.

Sounds exciting for you guys, good luck with the transition. Don't get me wrong, would'nt mind playing you guys either, that means we will at least be in the semi-finals. Good luck next year till we play ya!

Yeah, I see what your saying he is a great offensive coordinator and he takes the pressure off joe... good point

We felt we'd be okay this year without him, so, we froze him for a year and fed him steroids thru a tube.. Plus, we been experimenting with cloning and he was the best project sample of dna we had..
