Allamerican21
Actually I counted 6 from Boyle. Two on 1st, 2nd and Honorable Mention.
Yellow Card
It would have been an easy path for Boyle Co. until they ran into Owensboro Catholic... They have 3 ladies on both the 1st and 2nd team.:idunno:
23Legend
Lol. Well that explains it. Honestly, Im quite familiar with girls soccer across the state. There are definitely some girls I'm not familiar with on this list but it's the one's left off that I'm most puzzled about. It looks like politics reared it's ugly head within the committee. CAP
Politics played are part just like it did last year, soccer ALL State in my opinion is a joke and not enough goes into picking who belongs and who doesn't. I don't want to take away from girls that made it but for a school to have several on there that never even made it out of there region doesn't make sense and the same happened last year. Allamerican21
Maybe Boyle Co was allowed to have 6 girls on the All State Team because they are hosting the All state game on saturday? Agree though it's very political these days... Good luck to all the girls playing this weekend down at Boyle!!
23Legend
Not to beat a dead horse here but i guess curiosity has got me interested in this subject. I guess my concern is that when you look at this list, specifically the first team and there are girls without any college offers (from what my sources tell me on some of the girls Im not familiar with) and you have some younger girls on the East and West side that have high level D1 offers and some tremendous stats to back it up and they aren't mentioned on any list! I guess the High School committee is saying the college coaches have no idea what they are talking about! Lol I also had a link sent to me that was article interviewing the Boyle coach after the loss to Lexington Catholic and he stated his team would be well represented on the All State team. Apparently he already knew how it was going to play out. Smh I just think there needs to be a different process in place that would at least keep the politics at a minimum. Just my opinion. Oldtimebaseball84
They are decided prior to the post season......scholarships have zero bearing......some of he best players may not want to play at the next level....does that mean they still aren't the best? 23Legend
Lol. Yes they do. If they are the best in the state you should have some level of offers. That doesn't mean you have to play at the college level just bacause you have the offers.
Allamerican21
What girls were left off the list in your opinion? Any idea how many of the girls on both teams have committed? I only know of 3 juniors that are committed to D1. Im sure there's more than that. Im not familiar with most girls outside NKY.
Goal Kick
Grace Whalen - Henry Clay Haleigh Yazell - Bourbon Co. Brooke Abner - GRC Caitlyn Burdine - Woodford Co. Sarah Cox - Scott Co. This is my opinion only. These are players that I have seen play and feel very confident that they would match up with most and better than a number of the players that are on the list. 23Legend
Grace Whalen - Henry Clay Haleigh Yazell - Bourbon Co. Brooke Abner - GRC Caitlyn Burdine - Woodford Co. Sarah Cox - Scott Co. I agree with you on Caitlyn Burdine and Sarah Cox, I have watched both of them this year. I would add Kylie Polk from sha, she's a tremendous young talent. There is a girl from Owensboro Catholic whos name slips my mind but is deserving. Even though her team played an extremely weak schedule I think Audrey Anderson from Somerset slips into the Honorable Mention with 59 goals. She has the speed and skill to play at the next level. Chelsea Moore from Mercer is probably the biggest head scratcher for me. I live in the neighboring county and decided to make the short trip over after reading an article that she committed to WKU before the season started. I thought she was the 1st or 2nd player in the 12th.
turfster
Talked to a few coaches and they told me that the all-state teams are chosen by the members of the coaches association. Last time i looked less than 20% of the coaches belonged. Costs very little to join the association. I feel bad for the players who are good enough to be all-state but their programs can't sacrifice a few bucks and some time to support their kids. Those kids bust their tails for their programs. Why can't a coach go the extra mile for their kids? If someone has a complaint about the system. Take it to your coach. As for the guy who said a good player should have some level of college offer, you don't know much about the process. I've seen a number of kids good enough to play college and never got an offer. The majority of the time is because they don't want to.
