With all the problems going on at Ironton with their coaching search does anyone see a similar thing happening at Belfry when Coach Haywood steps down?

 

I was one of those stupid, ignorant people that thought Coach Haywood should leave a few years ago but I have learned a few things since then. I am scared to death at the thought of him leaving to be honest now.

 

Its hard to replace a legend and its got more worried.

 

 

Anyone see the same thing happening at Belfry?

I played for a legend and I know what you mean. But tomorrow is another day. Football at Belfry will go on. No matter what the next coach does, it won't be the same. But that is ok. He will be missed but there is always a younger coach trying to be the best and do it the right way.

 

A Pirate fan would like to think that Coach Haywood will stay at Belfry until he himself decides it is time to go and under his own terms. It could be 1, 5, or 10 years down the road. Who knows? A bit of advice for all Pirate fans, ENJOY his outstanding character, knowledge of the game, and guidance that he gives to young people !!! He is one of the very few CLASSY head coaches that are left in the game of high school football. As to the question of what happens when he does decide to retire, it will be an interesting situation. There is a LOT of uncertainty in the leadership of the Pike Co School System at the present time. Who knows what will happen and there will be 2 gigantic shoes to fill walking on the BHS sideline !!!!! Let's just hope that there will be 3 or MORE championship rings on his finger when he does decide to call it quits !!!!

Mayfield had a legend retire and really didn't miss a beat. The school just has to get a good coach to replace the legend and it will continue.

I totally agree with what your saying. The uncertainty at the BOE makes things even worse. You'll have a new Superintendent in July and possible a new BOE member for your area in Jan. and both have given Belfry a lot.

 

Do you think if both are replaced that someone will undermine BHS?

 

 

Can we clone Coach Haywood?

I wish they would clone him, the world needs alot more Coach Haywoods.
