Bowling Green 30 Owensboro 28 (FROSH)

Featured Replies

This game was played at BG. I don't know very much of the specifics, but I do know Owensboro was up 12 to 8 at halftime. Another thing I know is that these teams will keep competing against each other at a high level and their games will be close games. I know the 7th Grade Red Devils beat the Purples pretty good this year, but would think that class will get closer as the years wear on as well.

VERY Good Western Kentucky Series and Rivalry!

I'm encouraged by the score. This OHS freshmen group is a little down in terms of overall team talent but the kids have worked extremely hard. This OHS freshman team would've been a lot better had QB Chandler Crite not transferred to Daviess County. He is getting varsity reps out there as a freshman, so i guess it's working out for him.

OHS and BG have similar talent pretty much every year. BG has excelled at the varsity level, which has been the big seperation point over the last 10 years. On the lower levels (middle school, frosh, and JV) it's typically a war. 1st year OHS head coach Jay Fallin is doing a great job so far, and I honestly think he can help elevate the OHS varsity program to BG's level as well.

I agree Purple88, good series and rivalry. It's now up to OHS to make it GREAT again!

Good stuff here 58! I agree with similar talent and each class seems to go back and forth slightly as to who has the better class.

It should be noted that Owensboro leads in the overall series something close to 35-33-8. So the history is there it's just more recently that BG has climbed up the ladder.

As we have spoken on here recently, I really think Owensboro needs a marquee game on their schedule outside of BG to help them prepare for playing them. Just my opinion.

I know I'm counting my apples in advance, but really looking forward to the rematch this year. :thumb:

I think the winner of BG vs Owensboro game in playoffs will win state the next 2 or three years. I know East side of state would disagree but that's how I see it.

What do you mean again???? It is great!!! I, amoung all Purples love this game. Great talent, great atmospheres, great fans......what could be better?!?!?! By all means this IS a great and respected rivalry!!

OHS needs to keep this Middle School group coming up together .Like 58 said the Crite kid going to DC hurt and the Soph. Dull kid is just playing Baseball, those are really good kids that were stars in Middle School. It really hurts ,I know you are going have some kids that will not play once they get in High School, but you cannot lose the star players.
