Tavin Lovan not being ranked #1 is mind blowing. Terry is a really good player but Tavin has a dozen D1 offers and will be a front runner for Mr. Basketball next year.

I'm kind of surprised Perry Ayers isn't in the top 10.

Injuries have robbed Perry of a reputation that would land him higher. He has always torn it up on the AAU circuit, but for some reason he seems cursed when the regular season hits. He has missed more time than most during his career at BG. On pure talent, there's an argument for him in the top 10.

 

And I concur with CoachQ - as good as Terry Taylor is, Lovan is head and shoulders the best player in the region, bar none.

One more observation/question - I wonder how long it has been since Warren Central has not placed a player in the top 10 of the region (according to that publication). I'm guessing at least 15 years.

IMO, not in basketball. Dayton Gumm would/should be at Warren Central, but he's basically the only one.

 

Central just finished a stellar run of talent that has included multiple guys that are playing D1 basketball and probably a couple of others that had the talent to. So comparing in that lens, no, they don't have the talent they used to. NO ONE has the talent they did during their 6 year run and only Bowling Green has the type of talent that Central has had since. Central still has talent, but just not the type of individual talent that shines compared to what is actually a very talent-rich region at the moment.

 

Everything I've heard about the lower levels paints the picture that they've taken a step down from Bowling Green (or maybe BG just stepped forward), but are otherwise still typically a clear power. South has hurt a lot in many sports, but in basketball, it's not nearly as big a deal.
