Highlands scored on the first play from scrimmage, a 80 yd run. At the end of the first qtr. the score was 21-0. At halftime it was 28-0. no scoring from either team in the 2nd half.A lot of boys saw playing time for the baby birds.

It's an honest question. Boone was able to move the ball but not score. I wondered if they were going against the 1st team. It appeared so to me by looking at the jersey numbers but I am not familiar with Highlands team so there may have been a mix of starters and second team or could have been all starters.

 

Highlands QB throws a nice ball. My seat afforded me a great view of a pass he threw into the end zone at one point. It was a little long but a beautiful tight spiral.

 

The one opportunity Boone had to score was on a pass play. The ball was tipped in the air and the intended target was waiting for it to drop back into his hands and fall forward a half yard for the score. Another Boone player that was in the area also reacted to the ball and, well, it takes two hands to catch a football, four are too many.

 

The only quarrel I would have with Highlands is the gratuitous fake punt when they were up 28-0 with the game obviously in hand. Fortunately for Boone, it was an illegal formation and called back so they punted the next time. For the most part there seemed to be good sportsmanship on the field.

 

Boone's running game consists of two RBs that are down hill runners. They may make a first cut but after that they put their shoulder down and go straight ahead. I even saw some clouds of dust in their wake last night. They can mix it up with a smaller quicker back. I'd like to see him get more touches. He ran hard when he got the ball.

 

Cov Cath is up next week for Boone. Good luck to Highlands moving forward. That's a nice looking team you have there.

Horrible play calling for Boone. The outside was open the entire game. And if they were to use play action passes they would score some points.

The baby birds are a talented group of kids. Looking forward to seeing them the next two weeks and next three years.
