If you look at the point totals you listed Bath Co winning both is their best option to win the district anyway as Russell will have more points. Bath Co is now back at full strength as well as they have back Hatton (SR HB) that had been injured.

Too early to tell on points. It would be very close. Lots of scenarios in play.

Having seen both Russell and West Carter play I think it doesn't matter much for the playoffs who is the 1 seed and who is the 2. I think Belfry beats the 2 seed at home and Lawrence beats the 1 seed on the road.

 

What does matter is the pride the team that wins the tie breaker gets in being district champs, especially if it goes West Carter's way.

If Bath wins both it locks the District up for West Carter...

1. West Carter 2. Bath County 3. Fleming Co 4. Russell

 

but if Bath only beats one team the three way tie-breaker is gone.

 

If Bath beats Fleming but loses to Russell... Russell wins the District over West Carter (Head to Head tiebreaker)

1. Russell 2. West Carter 3. Bath Co 4. Fleming Co

 

If Bath beats Russell but loses to Fleming... West Carter wins the District (Head to head tie-breaker)

1. West Carter 2. Fleming Co 3. Bath Co 4. Russell

 

Bath cannot win the District unless West Carter loses another District game since WC beat them heads up and the best they can hope for is a tie.

 

 

 

Bottom line is West Carter wants Bath County to beat Russell by hook or by crook. If this happens West Carter wins the District. They do not want them to beat Fleming County, unless they beat both Fleming and Russell together.

 

Russell looks the best in the tiebreaker right now, but if they lose to Bath County they go from the most likely 1 seed to a 4 seed just like that.
