October 12, 201510 yr I am one of the bigger golf nerds on this site so I care about it more than most, but the President's Cup that ended early this morning (EST) was one of the better professional golf team events I have ever seen. It ended with the US winning 15.5-14.5. The last 2 hours was riveting as it looked like the US was in good shape, then looked like the US was NOT in good shape until they won the last match to win the Cup. Making it even better was that Bill Haas won the final match against Sang-Moon Bae (Korean player and crowd favorite as the matches were played in Korea). Haas held off Bae by playing some really solid shots the last three holes under enormous pressure. Haas is the son of the US team captain, Jay Haas, who took some heat for putting Bill on the team. Seeing how happy they were after was really cool...both crying at points. Some really good golf and a Hollywood type ending...

It was pretty much assured of having that type of ending when they found out that last match was worth something. Bae could've just as easily been a hometown hero.
October 12, 201510 yr Bubba sure gagged on his 3 footer on 18. JB's shot on 17 was the best of the day on that hole only to be outdone by the approach from OOOOOOsthousersnitzel on 18. And man did Fowler get housed by A. Scott in his match or what? Phil was sure fun to watch, especially out of the bunker to the point I was hoping he'd knock another one in there to see how he'd get out. I was exhausted Sunday morning from staying up that late. But the interviews with the Haas' after the event were worth it.
October 12, 201510 yr Author Three posts in and none of us have brought up the real turning point in the whole thing...Kirk draining the 15 footer for birdie on 18 and then Lahiri missing a 3 footer right after. Could not believe that either happened. As it turned out, that back and forth won the Cup for the US. And Doc, I was very surprised by Fowler getting beat like a tied up goat by Scott. Just shows that in match play between 2 touring pros, ANYTHING can happen. Zach Johnson slapping Jason Day around was shocking too. Johnson was up 5 after 11. Amazing that Day did not win one match out of 5 during the event.
