Georgia Woman On Death Row for Talking Lover into Killing Her Husband

Featured Replies

Another stay of execution has been filed.

I don't understand on what grounds they could get a stay. I'm against the death penalty . But no one is disputing what she did and she was convicted. As long as the death penalty is legal in the state what power does the highest court have to stop it ?

She was executed.

Did the killer cut a deal and the woman go to trial?

That is my understanding. She wanted a trial and he plead to his crime.

There has to be a constitutional reason which is why they always ask for the stay, but generally don't get it.

I'm not sure about the details in this case, although I would guess there was an argument involving cruel and unusual punishment since she wasn't the actual murderer. Another common constitutional argument is ineffective assistance of counsel.
