John Wall of Washington Wizards says he will help try to pitch team to Kevin Durant

 

Washington Wizards point guard John Wall said he'd be happy to assist the franchise in its attempt to land future free agent Kevin Durant.

 

The Oklahoma City Thunder star will be the most coveted free agent on the open market next summer and the Wizards, Durant's hometown team, expect to be in the running.

 

"There's gonna be an opportunity to throw a pitch at him to try to get him to come back home," Wall told Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic.

 

Teams are prohibited from speaking to or about any future free agents, and at present the two stars can focus only on their current teams.

 

"But I know one thing of just knowing him he's going to be very focused on taking care of Oklahoma City this season, and I'm going to be focused on taking care of the Washington Wizards," Wall said. "But when the time is right and he can get away from all that, yeah, we'll probably have some conversation and throw a pitch."

 

And while Durant's recent appearance on the Washington Redskins' sideline for their Thursday night game against the New York Giants may have reignited the "KD2DC" movement, the former MVP has never wavered in professing his love of Oklahoma City.

I expected this, and I think it has a lot of appeal. The Wiz have a good young core, and Durant would instantly make them one of my favorite teams in the NBA.

Been waiting on the summer of 16 for a few years now. The Wiz have built their team for this FA period so if they strike out on KD or someone else it may hurt a lot. BUT, they have a great young trio of Wall, Beal and Porter so you can always work with that.

 

However, with Nene coming off the books and Gortat locked in for a couple of more seasons they are pretty much going all in on KD so I hope it works. Personally I think it is a better fit for him and I think they would be the favorites for the title, but still a tough decision to leave what he has in OKC. Going to be a very important year for Donovan.

They have Wall on a great deal till 2019 with a lot of money freeing up in 2016. They could be a very good fit.
