How much soccer do you watch?

Too much.... I have serious issues.

I was actually in your back yard on Thursday watching the Freshman girls, saw your boys there.

Next time that you are up my way let me know. I live 1/2 mile from there. Would love to have you over for a beer.

Who does that?

Not the actual schools, but their supporters on forums such as BGP.

I never heard anyone from NewCath claim the bball tourney was "the" state champ in a KHSAA since. I did hear them refer to the fact that they won a State tourney comprised of about 40% of the bball schools in the state. Why are these schools not allowed to be proud of that?

Holy Cross came out with more fire and energy than the Cru. That "own goal" blunder was a Cru set back for sure, and it took awhile for the Cru to move past it and start playing their game. I agree with Yellow Card that it was like a balancing scale, with Holy Cross being the heavy in the first half, then St Henry pulling the scale their way in the second half.

Cru offense worked hard to get their goals against a solid Holy Cross defense. Holy Cross had some fast runners with several breakaway goal attempts, but the Cru defense was on it and stopped them.

Good luck to Holy Cross for the rest of the season. To future opponents, don't overlook the Cross!

You can be proud but what I think people are saying is some schools/fans like to treat it as a state title and buy the championship rings, claim a state title etc.

Out of curiosity nearly half (40%) of the schools in the state are single A? seems a bit high.

Not all of the schools are A. Not sure of the year, but it was changed to encompass the old A, AA teams before KY went to 6 classes.

As for buying rings, why not? Does anyone look down at football titles where you beat out 34 other teams for a title? Of course not. Nobody confuses All A champs for KHSAA champions. It is fans from larger schools who act snobbish about it that complain.

The difference is the A schools in football don't get a choice to which title they play for. I think they can play up but not down.

The all A is a tournament it isn't the real state title. The rings are for state titles.

Didn't I just type that nobody is passing it off as a KHSAA recognized state title? It is still a statewide tournament for smaller schools. Why does this truly bug people?

Two points, I never wrote no one is "not allowed to be proud".

According to KHSAA, there are 274 KY high schools in their association. I found 35 of them listed as class A or said another away, class A high schools comprise about 13% of KHSSA high schools in the state. Not exactly sure how many of these class A schools field a boys BB team, or how many of all KY high schools field a boys BB team, (mexitucky only says, "about 40% of the ball schools in the state compete in the All A", he does specifically say it is about 40% of the class A bball schools or all bball schools in the state). But according to mexitucky's,

"they won a State tourney comprised of about 40% of the bball schools in the state."

Not sure how you came up your "about 40%".

Again...the tournament isn't just for Single A teams. Read a couple posts below.

For the record, 119 schools participate in bball, so actually, 43 percent. Not sure how many have soccer.

Didn't I just say the reason people don't like when they buy the rings and such are because it is just a tournament. I think you are proving my point.

No one is saying stop the tourney or even stop calling it what it is. Just don't try to pass it as a state title

Ok..this is one of those things where people who aren't involved pass judgment and those who are take it pretty seriously. I do not care if they buy rings saying All A champs. It does not bother me at all.

By the way, what constitutes a state title? Only if the KHSAA sanctions it?
