Not about the question the CCH freshman coach, can't imagine a better freshman coach in the state of KY, OH or IN. The guy has a terrific mentality for freshman and is a great, great teacher of the game. He could likely have about any varsity job if we wanted but is happy where he is with everything else he has going on.

CCH is very fortunate to have a freshman coach as good as this one.

Wasn't questioning him or his assistant. Both are top of the top. I was just mentioning that both staffs approached their rotations differently. Pros and cons to each way. Nothing wrong with how they approached it, obviously.

Derick Smith is his name. And yes he is phenomenal.

He is outstanding. My son plays a lot of ginga with him and LOVES him. Uber laid back, but it works for him.

Yes, Derrick is a good coach and perfect for the frosh team. He's laid back but knows the game but yes, he does play to win. That's not to say that everyone doesn't play because they all play and that goes for games against Trinity and St. X. I really didn't watch the HHS rotation but almost everyone for CCH subbed out except for the two center backs.

Did NewCath beat CovCath yesterday?

Yes 3-0

Wow. Did not see that coming.

Ncc freshman team has a very solid group that works very hard to win.

Keep in mind that CCH has moved up 5 Freshman to JV and does not pull them down for showcases or Tourny, so I would think it has some effect.........With that said, the Frosh team they do have is quality and congrats to NCC for the win.

Terrible result for the CCH frosh and their worst game of the year. Just could not find the net. NCC scored on a ball that was passed back to a player just outside the 18 who popped it over the CCH keeper's head for the score. NCC made it 2-0 when they converted a PK. Horrible call. CCH had tons of shots but just doesn't have a scorer on this team. NCC added the third goal that I didn't see in the final minute of the game.

They did work hard and hustle. My only negative comment would be regarding the woman from NCC who felt it necessary to badger one of the CCH coaches as he was instructing his players. Bush league.

CCH isn't the only team with their top Frosh playing JV. Highlands has it, I'm sure that NewCath does as well. Additionally those 2 teams field quite a few 8th graders.

As I've said before, it's frosh soccer and it's easy to read too much into it or get overly excited by a frosh win. You never really know who is on a frosh team from any given school so all the results are taken with a grain of salt.

My freshman year we beat Highlands in football. Beat them pretty good. My senior year, they had some kids name Lorenzen and Smith and were beating us 35-0 at half. Truer words were never spoken.
