38th District Predictions

Featured Replies

It is Deming versus Harrison County in the first game at 5, then Nicholas County and Pendleton County square off in the nightcap on Monday night.

Deming is young and might be good in a couple of years, but right now I don't think they will give Harrison much of a game. However the second game is very interesting. Nicholas County swept the season series from the Cats, but Coach Murph Howard has almost always found a way to get his kids playing there best baseball in the postseason so far in his short tenure in Falmouth. I think Harrison wil beat the Black Devils in 5, and PC beats Nicholas in the second game to advance to the district championship against the Breds in Cynthiana. What do you all think?

I agree Harrison in 5 and PC in a close one over Nicholas with Harrison beating PC in 5 for the Championship in the "Harrison County Invitational". Other than Harrison County, this could be one of the worst districts in the state.

I agree with the PC/HC showdown in the championship, but I guess you forgot what the Cats almost did to Harrison in the regional tourney last year. Without Custard's two out blast in the bottom of the seventh, Harrison would've been knocked out in the first round of region. If you remember correctly, Pendleton didn't have that good of a record last year either, but they came ready to play in the postseason. I am not saying they will pull off the upset, but I don't think it will be as big a margin as you think it will be.

How could I forget? That was the greatest "almost" moment in Pendleton County Baseball History. But, as you know almost don't count. It's a shame to have to always refer to an almost win. I still say Harrison in 5 if they want to win it in 5.

Harrison may win the championship in 5 no matter whether they play PC or Nic. but there chances of winning the region are not too good. They have played a very soft schedule and other than the last week of the season have managed to dodge most teams that have a good record.I hope the players have the same attitude as you guys and they will not last too long in the tournaments. They could get Bracken in the first game of the region that would help them out.

Believe me, the attitude is what makes Harrison County special !!!!! Most teams only wish they could sport the Harrison County attitude and then be able to back it up on the field like Harrison County has been able to do for about 30 years. They may not win the region, but who would have thought they would be 20-4 going in to the last week of the regular season? They do have a legitimate shot of winning the Regional too.

20-4 (14-1 in the region), I'd say their chances of winning the region are better than most.

Yes that record is something.11 of the 14 region wins,Bracken 3,why play Bracken 3 times,Pendleton 2,Paris 2,Deming 2,and Nicholas 2.Where is Clark,Campbell,Brossart,Scott,oh you played them once sorry, canceled the other game. That is a powerful good record in this region all right.Harrison played a very weak schedule all year long. They have their hardest games the last week of the season and my guess is Mack figured maybe some of them would get canceled because of too many games. If not that some mysterious wet field.

FYI it is Mac not Mack and for you it should be either Coach Whitaker or Mr. Whitaker.

They are a very good hitting team as always, but I think the thing that will prevent them from winning the region is there defense. They are average defensively, but not good enough to win region. Who have they lost to this year? I haven't really been keeping up with them.

I agree, their defense has been suspect and the pitching has not been consistant against the better competition. They have lost to Beechwood and Scott High in Kentucky and 2 teams in Florida (not as strong of competition as they normally play in Florida). However, their schedule has been a bit subpar. Still impressive to be (20-4) considering they lost 9 Seniors, 7 of which signed to play college baseball and 2 other players who would have started this year.

What happened to the two that would have started?

He acts like a Mack truck on the field.I might call him coach but never Mr Whitaker I been around him too much for that.

What happened to the two that would have started?

JP Toomey - Senior - who would have started in the OF decided not to play. He got a lot of playing time last year and hit some homeruns. He also could have pitched some.

John Michael Turner - Junior - who would have also started in the OF is playing for George Rogers Clark because his family moved to Winchester.

Both would have been heavy contributors on this years team. In the long run Harrison will benefit from the experience the 8th Graders have gotten this year.

Did they rule him eligible? I heard the KHSAA would not grant him the right to play because he moved too late into the school year.
