7 v 7 Bullitt Central

Recommended Posts

The 7on7 tourney at Central Hardin was won by Central Hardin. The final matchup pitted Central VS North Hardin and literally came down to the last play with North needing a touchdown on the final play to win and completing a pass in the endzone just out of bounds on the sideline. Great game. Central has now won both 70n7 tournaments it has been to.

I don't know how much stock you can put into 7on 7s predicting success or failure during the regular season since they were only allowed to pass, not taking into account running and offensive and defensive lines. With that being said, there were 10 team at the tourney and John went into the quarterfinal bracket as a number 8 seed from the morning games, Shay Stone has a decent arm but threw a few picks. They have speed but are undersized and like John teams over the past 10 years, they make too many mistakes. They reminded me of the team at the beginning of last season. Seems like they get better as the season progresses. On the flip side, Central looks to have a team, dare I say, better than last year with more depth. They lost 2 of their best players last year in Helton and Krupinski but have rebounded nicely. They have good sized lineman and seem to have better speed this year. North also looked good and I am curious to see how they start their season. If John starts out similar to last year, they will struggle in that first game against South Warren, also the commitment of Witherspoon comes into question as he chose AAU basketball over playing yesterday.

Kind of what I thought would happen as far as JH goes. Stone has games where he looks like an all state QB, and others where it looks like he has never played QB before. Inconsistent is probably the best word to describe him. Witherspoon's true love is basketball and more power to him. I think he can play basketball at the next level, but not at the D1 level. Football wise, I think he could play at the next level as a DB or safety, but only if his heart is in it. John's success this year will be based on their Offensive and Defensive line play. I think it will be shaky to start the season but will improve as the season goes on.

Really impressed that Central Hardin won this tournament, especially with a new QB and a Wing T offense. A lot of folks here will be very surprised at how good they are going to be this year if the new QB does what he is supposed to do.

Central is deep at most positions minus the QB position if Reece Iller goes down with an injury and will surprise some people. Centrals schedule is brutal:

Aug 22, 15 Boyle County at Mercer County

Aug 28, 15 Paducah Tilghman away 8:30 PM

Sep 4, 15 Bullitt East home 7:30 PM

Sep 11, 15 South Warren away 7:00 PM

Sep 18, 15 John Hardin away 7:30 PM

Sep 25, 15 Bowling Green home 7:30 PM

Oct 9, 15 Collins home 7:30 PM

Oct 16, 15 Meade County away 7:30 PM

Oct 23, 15 North Hardin home 7:30 PM

Oct 30, 15 Woodford County home 7:30 PM

Johns preseason ranking of #1 might be too high, I guess we will find out in week 1.

Central Hardin looked really good. They have a bunch of seniors returning from last years excellent team. They will be hard to handle. Big and physical even at the skill positions. Lineman were big and athletic looking. North looked very good offensively too. Qb was on the money and he has some nice big/tall receivers to throw to. John looked ok at times and not so good at times. Qb forced some balls that ended up being picked and you can't have that in 7-7. Central might be the best team in the area again. I think John and North will be good too. IMO 7-7 is hard to judge because without lines being involved a false sense of security can be there. It seemed to me several balls thrown in the middle of the field never happen with an o line and d line in front of the QB. It's good practice and competition for the kids. If this is true about Witherspoon at JH someone needs to tell him that bball is probably not where is future lies. I saw him play bball this year and he is a good player, but he is elite in football.

I am pretty sure he has been told that his future is in football, but his mind is set on basketball at this point. I agree that 7-7 has no bearing on the regular season, but it's still impressive that Central Hardin won this thing. I would have expected North Hardin to win this easily based on their offense being a spread with mostly passing. I still go back to Central Hardin has the studs in the trenches and that is where the game is won. JH is still a year away from having that so the area will most likely belong to the Bruins this year. The senior class they have is unreal.

Yes, Central Looked really good, they also won the 7on7 tourney 2 weeks ago at Campbellsville, beating Boyle County. I have had conversations with Purple fans who are nervous about the Central game in Cecilia mid-season, I think Central can keep it close, then lets see what happens.

John Hardin supposedly has a transfer lineman who is 6'7" 313, does anyone have any more info on this player?

I don't see Central Hardin losing a regular season game this year. They will be that good. I've not heard about a transfer. Where's he coming from.

Not sure, John Hardin Booster President was talking about him last week, I will find out. I think that South Warren will be their toughest game, not Bowling Green. Hoss, do you know how to find out what region Central will play in the playoffs or do they release that at a later date?

I have seen on this site in previous threads it was listed who each district and region would play. Also the khsaa site may have that info.

I heard John Hardin had 3 big lineman move in this year. A Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior. The junior is the real big kid according to my sources. I don't know if he can play, but I saw him at practice with his parents one day. I would guess 6'5 320 from a distance. He was a large person.
