She has ZERO executive experience...having a title isn't a qualification in and of itself.

I'm no fan of Hillary and I will not be voting for her, and I hate that this board requires some qualifier statement to avoid the liberal lashing that the folks on this board love to do.

 

But for God's sakes. That whole "you have to be a Governor" thing is just silly. LBJ, despite all his faults, and there are many, is considered to be one of the most effective presidents we've had. I've had enough "deciders" in the Oval Office. I prefer people willing to build coalitions and operate in the best interest of the entire country. Hillary is not that person, but neither are any of the 18-strong GOP clown show.

I don't disagree with anything you said...my point is she as zero experience in Government or Private Sector at an executive level. A poster was pointing out how great she was and I was just making a point that she has never been in any position where the buck stopped with her.

 

As far as your boy LBJ goes, a lot of friends like to point out how much legislation he got pushed through and how successful of a President he was based on that. With JFK just getting assassinated the country (as well as democrat controlled house and senate) was 100% behind LBJ he could have passed anything he wanted. Oh and did you forget he started the Vietnam War? A lot of people might not think he was all that successful of a President.

Totally fair cop on LBJ, and I admitted he had many faults. My father served in Vietnam, and his scars made the father-son connection difficult when I was a child, so I have a great deal of animosity towards LBJ. So much so, it caused me to do a lot of research on the man to try to understand him better, or, perhaps, justify my anger.

 

And even despite all that, the fact that he used his influence to make needed changes in the structure of our country in terms of civil rights ensured that his legacy would be viewed as complicated, albeit effective, by neutral observers.

 

Did he take advantage of the JFK tragedy? Certainly. But it could be argued that it (civil rights) was not necessarily legislation he personally wanted. That he carried on with his predecessor's grand achievement speaks more to his grounding as a person than anything, especially since the simple and safe thing would've been to play to his constituency.

I never posted how great she was. I posted she shouldn't be trashed when considering what she is running against is trash. The whole thing is a dumpster fire.
