Which colleges in NKY area have a good MAT program?

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any recommendations on an MAT program in the NKY area? (Master of Arts in Teaching).

Have heard that NKU, Xavier and Thomas More offer the MAT.

Looking for any info on Online programs, too. Thanks!

If you want to do it online, it won't reallymatter where you get it from. The university of the cumberlands offers it online, and is probably the cheapest.

If you're trying to maximize what you take away from the program, then I wouldn't reccomend doing it online. Just speaking from experience.

Did you get one online?

Did you get one online?

I've finished all course work except for the practicum, which I'm taking this fall.

I'm doing it through the University of the Cumberlands. Outside of it being cheap, and convenient, I'm not a big fan.

I miss the personal interaction of a normal classroom, and a couple of advisors there are absolutely horrid.

Does that program have a good reputation in schools in the NKY area?

I honestly don't know.

I will say this though, I was able to land a job teaching two years ago because I was enrolled in the program.

^^AND I should clarify, the University did NOT set me up with the job, or do anything to help me get employed beyond confirming that I was enrolled.

I got my masters and an finishing my rank 1 at Ucumberlands. Didn't have to do the MAT, but you can't beat the price of UCumberlands.

I agree. My daughter got her Masters in teaching online and did her student teaching at Dixie HS.

The way online education has exploded I wouldn't be surprised to see more and more kids right out of HS getting their Bachelors degrees online in the near future. Especially with the price of attending college going from 30k and up a year.

Also as far as online degrees goes, my daughters husband works for GE as a mechanical engineer and he is doing all

his grad work online also, GE pays for all his grad school.
