Nothing like thinking outside the box.

A couple thoughts....

 

Come up with a player pool with stated positions for each player. Assign a coach(s) for each team. Have a draft by those coaches out of the player pool. Dont tie it down to what district each player is from. Include as many schools as possible. Do this for both junior and senior teams. It should spread the talent out proportionately and should give a balanced game.

 

Possibly in the junior game...make it juniors thru freshman eligible for the draft and/or game

 

Allow selected teams to have a practice/meeting at least once before actual game.

 

If the first game is at 5, the second game should be no later than 7.

The teams were pretty even had ALL the players shown up. Like was stated earlier, there is no way to get all the players selected together for a practice.....just not going to happen.

 

If there is only going to be the 2 games, the game times will change to 5:00 & 7:00 or 5:30 & 7:30.

 

Dunking booth would be a cash cow, especially if you had a 2nd one and put RCC9 in it with the title "All A Hater".

I like the format now, with Senior game (all seniors) and Juniors (all Juniors) no other underclassmen, (they will have there time to shine) The profile sheets would be good idea. The format is good now how you divide up players, however you could divide them up Division I all-stars vs Division II and III or go group the district all Star teams together (33rd,34th,etc vs 35th,36th) or Private schools vs Public Schools. Just an Idea, since you asked, but Kevin you do a wonderful job how it is and how its divided.

My DD said it would be nice to at least have one practice or a profile sheet for the coaches. She mentioned it felt unorganized from a player standpoint (who plays where, etc)

The biggest problem from an organization standpoint is the kids not showing up or not showing up in a timely manner. I personally can not for the life of me understand why someone would commit to the game and not show up. The coaches did get a roster with preferred positions and 20+ committed players to try to set a lineup and rotation for subs, when half a dozen or more of the players don't show up then it becomes....OK who can play 3rd?
