The stats that you read are not worth the paper they are written on . A lot of them are numbers that a coach or some other person puts in the book to make a player look good. Most collage recuiter does not even look at them because they know a most of them are not correct.

 

Most college recruiters aren't even paying attention to High School Ball. They would much rather watch a National travel softball tourney. Can anyone name one player that received a scholarship that did not play travel ball?

Very few.

I know of one who was placed on a travel ball team with a phone call from college coach's office after offer was accepted. HS ball played no part in it, though. Strictly camps and connections.

The biggest problem with high school stats is level of competition. A kid may have hit .500 or threw 4 no hitters but who did they do it against? Did they go 4 for 4 vs there biggest regional rival or did they throw a no hitter vs a small school struggling to field a team?

IMO there are coaches that schedule for a great end of year banquet and there are coaches who schedule to get ready for a run at the championship.

Reason I really like the "strength of Schedule" valuations on Max_____ & True_____. They may not be fool proof, but they do give a good indication of the level of play a team is involved in. This season only one team outside of California had a higher SOS than Male on Max___, and True____ had them at #1 SOS in KY the entire season. They didn't come into Owensboro with a bunch of hype and gawdy stats like some teams, but they didn't go home 0-2, either. I understand some will say it's tougher for teams out in the state, but the good teams are spread out across KY and in neighboring states, and they're willing to compete with you...got to go get 'em, though.

our record was 22-12 (2007) & 16-18 (2008). Sounds kinda rough but when you look at the schedule I would say we had THE TOUGHEST in the state.

Played Ballard, Meade Co, Allen County, Knoxville Web, TN, Christian Academy, PRP, Male, Presentation, Green County, Manual, Southern, Bryan Station, Holy Cross, Knoxville Catholic, TN, Tates Creek Sacred Heart, Reidland, Raceland, Boone County

We had 4 girls make all-state and we were selected 2007 Class 1A Coaching Staff of the Year. I think that strength of schedule is VERY IMPORTANT!!!! We had 5 girls go on and play college softball. 2 more years and my daughter will be in high school and I can't wait!!!!

DLG graduated 2 years ago, 2.0 is only a junior, & 3.0 is an 8th grader....so I still have 5 years worth of watching my girls play. Only thing about it that they hate at times....well alot of times, dad is a coach. :lol2:
