Oldercoach Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Male's softball coach was quoted in the Herald this morning after their 2-1 loss to McCracken Co. in the championship game. "It was just so much fun today. I had a great time, and congratulations to McCracken. I'm just going to tell them..'don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.' It was awesome. It was an awesome experience." Wow! Bet his players' parents love the perspective he brings to the game. Disappointed in the score? You bet. Cherish the experience? Absolutely for life! Congrats to Birds on a great run!!!
hoops5 Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 That quote is so appropriate. Hard to swallow a loss like that, especially for the seniors who just played their last game---and won't be playing at the next level. Be proud of your high school career and giving it your all every time. Now go take that energy and put it into the next chapter of your life.
Oldercoach Posted June 8, 2015 Author Posted June 8, 2015 When I started this thread, I had hoped others might share their thoughts on their experiences and how a coach said just the right thing at the right time. Coaches can have impacts that last a lifetime.
dlunsford1 Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Recently, UL head coach, after the gut-wrenching loss to Cal-State Fullerton in the Super Regionals, said "you experience the lows because you have won and experienced the highs"...or something to that effect. Big-game losses can only happen because of the success of your team making it there. There is one champion, but those teams that get close and come up short deserve praise and respect for a job well-done
