Greenup Co won the 63rd district tonight over Russell 7-6 in 8 Inns. Greenup came out early with a Jared Hunt 2run homer, but Russell scored 5 in the next Inn. Greenup over come 5 E's in the game to tie it at 6. In the 8th Russell was able to get a runner to 3rd , but couldn't get him in. Greenup got lead off batter Gage Hughes on in bottom of 8th,a Jared Hunt bunt, and bad throw moved Hughes to 3rd. Russell walked (Intent) next GC batter, than with 2 strike's the next Russell pitch it GC batter, to bring Hughes in for winning run. The 5 E's by Greenup , and not a great hitting night. Was not a normal GC game, but will take the win. Zack Hayden came into pitch in 2nd , and was lights out , My MVP For Greenup tonight. Great job Zack, and rest of GC team for battling back, and not giving up when down. Shows so much for a very young team, you boy's did great. Lets keep it up in Region now. Greenup is now 28-10 on season, and cant forget Coach Logan and staff . Great job guys , takes a lot of good coaching. With 3 FR, 3 SO, and 3 JR most nights .

Really ? For one, there where more than a few Really bad calls. I`m not one to get on umpires , but the guy at 2nd-3rd was bad last night. If you was there ,you seen it. Plus both Logan s do a great job of taking up for the team and players, as a coach should do in my OP. And it`s not a every game thing with them. so circus might be a little much. But yes Greg was very hot at that ump , more than once .

In the last two Russell games how many times has he been on the field? All that isn't necessary. He does a good job with kids. They play hard and in his program they improve. Hats off to him for that, you don't see that in some places who claim to have a program. Too many times I have walked away from a game and thought he needs to realize there is no entertainment value to his antics, people are there to watch the kids.

GC also has 3 Freshmen and 2 Sophmores that start every game for Greg so a little extra communication and coaching may be necessary to help his team succeed.

How can you tell from the video? The angle I see is from behind the plate looking out towards 2nd.

Your right, the angles and the quality on Usteam isn't great, but you can take a camera that has zoom and slow motion capabilities and then video the plays off your computer screen to see these calls were wrong. One call was in the 1st inning, a GC runner was stealing 3rd base and was called out. This one is not on the Ustream video that is on-line, you'll have to take my word for that one that it was wrong. The Ustream guy replayed it on his computer with the other camera angle and videoed it on his phone like I mentioned above and I've seen that video showing ump missed it. It was a bang / bang play but GC runner was safe. The second call was in top of the 2nd inning, GC fielder fielded then dropped a ground ball right at 2nd base but picks it up off the ground and has ball all the way past his hip before runner touches 2nd base - the runner didn't even slide so it makes it even easier to see he was clearly out - this play was a force play. I thought this one was pretty obvious watching it live. The third one was in bottom of 5th inning GC runner tagged up from 1st base on a fly ball to left CF, throw is high, runner slides into the bag well before the tag. This one was the most obvious of them all in real life but the hardest to see on the video unless you zoom in because the catcher somewhat blocks the pic a little and the Russell field fields it on the bag with is back to the camera. Radio announcer even went crazy on that one. I believe the ump thought it was a force out and not a tag play as it would have been a bang/bang play if it was a force out but definitely not bang/bang on a tag play.

Basketball and Football teams don't get extra time outs if their team is young. I am not a hater of his dedication to the program. Like I said Greenup players get better in four years there. He is willing to scout other region foes. I didn't see a single 16th region coach the other night scouting the region favorite. Just no need for the antics.

by the way ,if you watch the game. Greenup had a really bad fielding game, not normal. You don't win 28 games fielding like that. GC is a very sound fielding team. Not a good game to judge if , you have never seen them play. One big positive is they fought back after a bad inning ,and got down 5-2, impressive for a very young team. I thought.
