May 7, 201511 yr I learned a lot from my days in Boy Scouts and as a lifeguard, and it's pretty much all stuck. Never had to do CPR. Have done the Heimlich before on someone. Have done lots of basic first-aid stuff, setting broken bones, splints, patching up nasty cuts, etc. Broke my pinky a few years ago. Was sure I had set it correctly, but when I woke up the next morning it was still off and had started to heal crooked. Had to grit my teeth and reset it again, which wasn't much fun.
May 7, 201511 yr Certified in CPR several times, last time I think it was the version in the video. Blood flow to brain > air in lungs!
May 7, 201511 yr Important Reminder for those that are not trained in CPR...if the person is breathing DO NOT PERFORM CPR. There was a young man passed out in a creek bed a few weeks ago...he was passed out but was clearly breathing...his family vehemently cursed first responders (police and fire) for not doing CPR while waiting for the ambulance.
May 7, 201511 yr Certified myself but not had to use any of it. The proper way to do CPR has changed over the years. All you have to remember is "Staying Alive". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5hP4DIBCEE Fun Fact: Ken Jeong, while being mainly known for his work in The Hangover series as well as Community, probably is a good person to use for that PSA. He's a doctor in real life.
