Oddsmaker installs Patriots as biggest favorites of Week One

Featured Replies

The biggest favorites of Week One? The Patriots, who are favored by six points over the Steelers in the NFL regular season opener.

The Cowboys are the second-biggest favorites of Week One. Dallas is favored by 5.5 points against the Giants in the first Sunday night game of the season.

Seven teams are road favorites in the opening week: Green Bay (at Chicago), Indianapolis (at Buffalo), Miami (at Washington), Carolina (at Jacksonville), Seattle (at St. Louis), Cincinnati (at Oakland) and Philadelphia (at Atlanta).

Is this a surprise to anyone?

It isn't a surprise to me but at the same time seeing the Steelers almost a TD underdog always catches my eye.

They'll be missing their best player. Not surprising at all. Honestly, would've expected it to be slightly higher.

I will definitely be rooting for the Pats.

Steelers have no shot. Facing defending champs. Best coach, best QB, best owner, best sports town, best uniforms, best preparation, best inflation. Got no shot.

Ben is their best player but I get your point.

Maybe so, but with either him or Bell missing, it makes them one-dimensional. Can't expect to win that way against a team like New England.

Offense won't be the issue vs New England or anyone else this season for the Steelers.

A big factor too is the opening game spread the Superbowl winning home teams always win by. That game is typically non-competitive with the defending champs so amped.

Everyone else in the AFC North has to be pleased with the timing and place.
