Louisville AAU basketball coordinator being investigated by the FBI

Featured Replies

The questions around the sudden collapse and cancellation of the Elevate Basketball Circuit (EBC) rolls on, with questions about the conduct of its Founder and President, David Kelly, now sparking federal investigation.

On Wednesday, the Louisville branch of the FBI confirmed to USA TODAY High School Sports what had first been reported by Sports Illustrated: the FBI is formally investigating EBC and David Kelly.

Here’s the statement that FBI officials released to USA TODAY:

“The FBI is looking into the Elevate Basketball Circuit allegations and asks team managers to contact the office at [email protected] with any information."

I thought this guy's name sounded familiar so I searched my e-mail. Sure enough...he contacted me in 2013 for help with some sort of tournament he was putting together. Something didn't sit well with me so I decided to lay off. I'm very glad I did.

This guy is in no way shape or form associated with the AAU. The AAU is a great organization and continues to take hits because of bad seeds in the summer circuit. The AAU does everything in their power to insure a positive experience for all of their athletes, but too often all non school basketball gets dumped into their lap. Not all colas are Coke's.

I wish our society would develop our school programs, and not AAU, and other private sports companies. Lets make em great the same place they can get an education and be protected. Long shot I know all the red tape that comes along with our schools, and sports.
