Anderson Co could very well be in there... They have some very good talent. I don't know all the teams in that pool well enough. So Anderson or O'Catholic. AND, this is just my opinion (prediction)

Top team in the 8th region...top 10-12 overall I think though I haven't seen any recent state ranking lists. I would be surprised if they didn't make some noise, but then again there are several other good teams playing as well.

Owensboro Catholic falls to Anderson Co 7-3. Good game by both teams but Anderson was able to put some late hits together to get the win. Anderson's two pitchers Mia Aldridge and Ally Moore where very good tonight and timely hits from Aldridge, Kaci Currens and a grand slam by Bailey Curry proved to be the difference in this one.

Woodford beat Bullitt East 1-0 on a HR (inside the park, playing on 250 foot fields) by Caitlin Ferguson in the bottom of the 5th.

 

Scott County beat Hendersonville TN, believe the score was 5-0.

Saw bits and pieces of this game and you have to hand it to Davies Co they just flat hit the ball. Pitching for McCracken didn't look it's best at times, falling behind in the count and Davies Co set on good pitches. Should be an interesting Saturday in Etown.

That's the key, against good hitting teams you can not get behind in the count. It makes your job on the mound 100 times harder.

So early right now. Very few teams have played enough (or at all) to be at their best this weekend. It's anyone's tournament among the teams that make the bracket cut.

Male topped Holy Cross (Lou) 3-1 in 5 innings. They will play McCracken this AM.

McCracken's pitching, I thought, was their weak link last season. Depth and hitting are definite pluses for them, but they had no pitchers that were what I would consider "studs" last year.

Holy Cross' pitcher looked very good. I believe it was their senior, Gailor.

Saw a little of Mercy at opposite field playing Green County. Mercy won 2-0 in 7, and was probably indicative to what they will do this year, which is the same as last season. Not score many runs, and ride Thomas in the circle until her arm falls off. With a pitcher of her caliber, it's a useable strategy, but I'd risk trading early season "W"s for tournament innings on her arm, and use a different pitcher as the middle of the season progresses, personally.

Won't make it down today, so I'll check back here for some details, hopefully.

Heard Male pulled out and went home after Bloomer got ejected. Some parents said they heard him mumble give me my ball I'm going home cause y'all don't play fair.

Woodford beat #13 Assumption, #5 Mercy and #2 Scott County to get to championship against McCracken.

Woodford had 9-0 lead in 3rd on McCracken but top 2 pitchers and starting catcher were pulled due to fatigue and risk of injury and backups did not fare well. Credit to McCracken for not throwing in the towel. They won 19-9. Six games in a day this early in the season proved to be too much. Still a great start to the year for Woodford. Saw a lot of great ball.

HD, I bet about every team in the state would like to have McCracken's weak pitching.
