Bluegrasspreps, IMO, posts close to the best rankings for KY basketball and football, but there is not a bluegrasspreps ranking for highschool baseball?

 

Is it because baseball is not one of the more major sports with somewhat less interest? Any info is appreciated.

I think they should.

I can't speak for management but the rankings are a labor intensive process that involves a wide array of people who see multiple teams play and give their opinions based on that.

 

At some point, you have to draw the line. We did provide a statewide baseball preview for the first time and we're waiting to see what kind of feedback and response we get from that.

 

BGP is like watching a toddler learn to walk and then walk into a sprint. I'm sure baseball rankings will be looked at down the road. In a perfect world, BGP would rank every sport but then comes finding the right personnel to pull it off. Not just find a bunch of people to rank teams for the sake of having rankings. There is a reason why BGP's football and basketball rankings are the most accurate in the state.

:thumb: Much appreciated. I was thinking that the reason was probably because rankings are not easy to keep up, and baseball is such a hard sport to have rankings in because of difference pitchers pitching different games.

I also think the rankings for football and basketball are easier done because the KHSAA/Riherds scoreboard is must quicker to post football and basketball scores. You may go 3-5 days before baseball and softball results are posted. It's better than it used to be but there is still some room for improvement. When doing the rankings in such a short time window, you need the most accurate and up to date information or your polls look bad.

All great points. In addition to everything stated, if we do baseball rankings we would really need to look hard at doing both slow pitch and fast pitch softball rankings and between the three of them we would be overwhelmed with work.
