A Former College Lineman Now on the Streets, Looking for Answers, and Help

It is a terribly sad and tragic story.

Although the theme seems to be, "football contributed to this young mans current mental state" and the outcry from family as such, I am struck by the mention that after college football, the very father who calls football the culprit also encouraged his son to fight in MMA. Seems disengenuous to criticize the sport of football as the cause of your sons mental problems on one hand and ignore the possibility that MMA might have also contributed.

This is truly a sad story. There are more of these stories out there then people realize, but just don't get the spot light like this gentleman. I played high school and college football, and so does my son, (currently playing college football), but I think everyone needs to take a hard look at if it effecting them in a negative way. I really believe this is a small percentage of people that played the game, but even a small percentage is way too much.

He has also allowed himself to succumb to alcohol and chemical addictions that have affected his mental and physical state. I just don't think it's all football.
