It is an interesting thought and I think it would help, but it's not a new concept for those of us in this district.

The other thing to think about outside of sports. Those are old cities with a lot of hard working people that take extreme pride in what they have. Even in Silver Grove. Does it make sense from the outside looking in...yes. Will you ever convince the people that built those cities and schools that it's right, no. Because it's waaaaayyyyyy more than just sports for them and I don't blame them.

Agree with this...those schools genuinely hate one another and that is why the rivalries are so intense in almost every sport.

You put Dayton, Bellevue, and Newport together and they would form a competitive team in virtually every sport. Maybe not top 5, but that would be a top 10 program in NKY every year...IMO, of course.

I agree with this too. The other factor is...a lot of the kids in those areas today leave and go to NCC and Highlands because of the better opportunities. If there was a bigger and more competitive option, they may stay.

Example that Lawnboy would relate to is Dayton softball. Just Dayton alone could have possibly had Whitney Quillen, Casey Kohl Haley Delaney had they not left Dayton to play elsewhere. With what Dayton has, add those players, one from Bellevue I can think of (Ross) and put Hoeh on the mound (with a couple others from Newport) and they are now pretty competitive. May not win the region, but would be a start to a good thing.

Curious if anyone else has made it 14 years in a row? Product this year of 3 good teams in district.

If Bellevue and Dayton would just shut it down already and merge with Newport, it would give NCC and HHS some competition. Otherwise I would say NCC and HHS are Regional locks for the foreseeable future.

How about the KHSAA Classifies Basketball? Kentucky is only one of two states that is not classified. Makes more sense than to combine schools. Then NCC would just compete with Holy Cross, St. Henry, etc. Why are you not brining up Ludlow? Looks like Dixie and St. Henry are locks every year too! Same scenerio. Classify Basketball. The All A Classic was created for the small Public Schools. And we see where that has gone.

I have heard stories about someone trying to consolidate catholic schools prior to NCC being built and they just couldn't get the idea off the ground. Can you imagine one large Catholic school in NKY instead of what we have. Now that would be a powerhouse.
