Owsley County 55 Estill County 45

Featured Replies

Final

All Owsley County in this one. Estill's Kennedy Flynn couldn't get going at all in the first half. Owsley led Estill 21-8 at halftime...

Big win for the Lady Owls. They had lost to Estill County in both of their season games. They will now play Lee County, who defeated Powell County in the evening's first game, for the championship Thursday.

I can't remember the last time Owsley and Lee's girls have played for the 56th District championship but a good guess is probably back in the early 1980's, or maybe never. I can't recall them playing for the title and I'm as old as a fossil. It's been a long time, that's for sure.

Should be a good size crowd for the game. Two schools located 11 miles apart, natural rivals, and loyal fan bases. And both were upset winners, Owsley was a 3 seed and Lee was a 4.

I'm gonna take Owsley to win the district. It's their home floor, they have the size on the inside to get boards and put backs and they have guards that can shoot. Lee County has some quality players that can put the ball in the hole too, as we seen it against Powell County but I like the Lady Owls chances tomorrow night.

Good luck to both teams and hope for an injury free game!
