I heard last night that the Providence and Webster County were going to merge. If this happens, look out 2A here we come.

They had a school board meeting last night to discuss it but I haven't heard what came of it.

This will be a dumb question to those who know but, being I am not around this area and know little about it has Providence ever had football?

What would the new school be named?

Providence hasn't played football for 30-40 years. They only have 115 in the school.

They will just go to Webster Co...about 15 miles down the road and no new name will be needed.

If this is true it would be a book boost to Webster Co football program and bsketball program. Providence is a small school with most of the population made of low-income families. Every year they have between 10-15 good looking athletes that play basketball and you always think what kind of football players would they make. Webster is a decent program who have traditional know for their size and strength. If they could get 5 to 7 more players who have speed and athleticism it could make them very dangerous team for seasons to come.

Yep!!

The board voted 3-1 to discuss merger with Webster County.

It sounded like the Providence board hoped they could keep the school open one more year to let students make the adjustment. If I was Webster, I'd probably go for that, but let all of next year's ninth graders go to Webster and have all the 10th and 11th graders spend some time at Webster to get used to it.
