Ryne Callahan Named 16th Region Player of the Year

Featured Replies

Congrats to Ryne Callahan of Rowan County who has been named the 2015 Region 16 KABC Boys Player of the Year.

Congrats!

Congratulations from the 15th! Outstanding player!

Congrats to Ryne. He's very deserving...

Are the results of the voting made public? If so where could they be found? I'd be interested in seeing how voting turned out for a player such as Jordan Perry. I'd assume he was #2 on the list. It would be interesting to see who else was maybe in the running as well.

It is for seniors only.

It is for seniors only. I believe that the winners in every region automatically are nominated for Mr. Basketball, which is a senior only award. I am sure there will be other award that will put Perry and Callahan against each other...two great ball players.

OK, thanks guys (GB32 & goldenbucs)

Callahan is a better all around player than Perry. Pulse Rowan play`s a stronger scheduled, Callahan playing against better players. I have always thought to be the best player you have to do more than score. A I don't like and never have liked a senior only thing. It should be the best player ,not just senior.. It did work this year Callahan is the best.

And I bet if you take the point guard off Rowan he struggles. Callahan is only as good as the players around him.

That may be true, but it always helps to have good players to help out, I be 9 out of 10 players of the year come from the best team. Just seems to be that way. op is it shouldn't matter how good the team is, but how good the player, I`m guessing a last place team has never had a Player of the year. I think Callahan was the right pick.

I'm not saying he wasn't the right pick. I just think with a player with Larry's ability will make Ryan a lot better. That's all.
