Diamond Dandy Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Congrats to J C Collins on his first varsity win. He held the Rebels to just 3 hits and 2 runs on a sun assisted ball to right. The Raiders chipped of 8 hits including 2 doubles by Guttridge, a single and a double by Murray and a single and a triple by Humphrey.
Champs05 Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Looks like Boone kind of bounced back from there two previous beatings only to loose by 3

Two Goals Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I would have expected Ryle to win this by more if they are to be considered one of the better teams in NKY.
Diamond Dandy Posted April 10, 2006 Author Posted April 10, 2006 I would have expected Ryle to win this by more if they are to be considered one of the better teams in NKY. Ryle threw a rookie, and played some subs, Boone threw their #2. A win is a win
WebGems37 Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 DD, for some reason I always see you down playing the Ryle victories. Boone is IMO a pretty good team and have played well so far. They didn't get much respect rankings wise to start the season. They are also very inexperienced, to loss 2 games in a row and play one of the top teams in the region tough is something to build upon to get out of the funk with out the experience to bounce out of the lossing streak right away. You say Ryle threw a rookie, well if you didn't know Boone also threw a varsity rookie. They lost 4 of there top 6 pitchers last season forcing the number 2 slot to be filled with a new guy. You said Ryle played some subs, but obviously they didn't sit there good players. Gut, Murray, and hump are probably the 3 of the top 4 players on this team. And I am sure Wagner played so that is the top 4 players on there team. I am not trying to start anything just pointing out that Ryle did use there best players so they weren't necessarily sitting the key players that would have forced this game to be close. They got a good pitching performance and the same with Boone. Krohman obvioulsy pitched welll just couldn't get the offense going to help him out.

Didn't mention in my original post about anything you said. Only mntioned it when explaining to TWO GOALS why the score was closer then he thought it should be. Everything I posted is fact. The right fielder who allowed two runs on the sun assisted error....it was the first game he played in this year and it was the first varsity win and only the second start for the rookie J C Collins. BTW....I learned that Korman was your #2 from your post.
chevyman Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 If you consider 3 hits as bouncing back. Not that one hit matters, but Boone had 4 hits. Ryle played better. Ryle had hitters up and down the lineup. Boone has to have more than 4 players hitting when playing solid teams. Boone has to come out and play consistant baseball game after game. They have not found that yet in the 9 games played.

Gutty & Wags are leading the Raiders both on offense and defense. There are numerous other players contributing. Vinny and Hump are starting to come on strong on offense as well but our strength is in the progress our young pitchers are making.

Actually....it was 3 hits, just as the KY Post reported te next day. Reed, Farris and Dietz. Bagby was safe on a fielders choice, not a hit when they forced out Kordenbrock.
WebGems37 Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 How was my conception of Ryle talent not accurate? lol. You contradict yourself........I don't care how the year is going at the start, at the end of the season and throughout the year who are the top 4 players going to be in your opinion on Ryle's team? Wagner, Hump, Murray, and Gutridge in no particular order, hands down!! So which from what i have read those guys all played against Boone. That's why I was simply implying that if those guys played against Boone then it was a good ball game with both teams at there best. You said (Ryle threw a rookie, and played some subs, Boone threw their #2. A win is a win) I was just saying even if Ryle got some guys into the game they player there top players, and Boone threw a Rookie just like you guys did......Im glad the other players our contributing which is why your young team is off to such a good start. In the course of the long season though, the 4 players I mentioned who were in the lineup against Boone will carry the team in the end!

I was trying to make the point that Ryle is deeper then those 4 players that we are depending on and I wanted to make sure they got some credit. 99% of the time I agree with you Webgems...Check the Conner game post, I gave you guys an attaboy ,you deserve it. As a matter of fact I am somewhat supprised at how well you guys are doing given the lack of experienced pitching you have to play with this year.
WebGems37 Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 That's cool DD I understand completely. You know how people get when they are definding their teams LOL!! I agree with you completely. Those 4 guys will carry the load but I think like you have said a lot of this early success is a testament to the new guys stepping up, so I definitely give them the some deserved credit. It is just like the Boone situation. Dietz, Rathert, Farris, and Bagby have been there before but so far the Rebels are doing well early because young guys like Krohman, Reed, and Kordenbrock are adapting very quickly. I actually am suprised myself with the early success. I am very happy about it but expected this team to struggle without Dietzy on the hill. Looks like they should be fine and hopefully can keep playing good baseball...By the way I can't wait for the district matchup Boone VS, Ryle Dietz VS my guess correct me if I am wrong Humphries. It will be a good :fight:
