January 23, 201511 yr We are on opposite sides of the spectrum I guess but Bunning will always be high on my list. He is the reason Democrats don't dominate Kentucky anymore so his influence can't be neglected. I realize that Bunning is beloved by NoKy Republicans and all, but he did next to nothing important during his time in the Senate. He consistently got low marks across the board from CQ.

He was a fiscal conservative before it was the in thing in the GOP . I will always hold him in high regards.

January 23, 201511 yr He's a creation of McConnell. Mitch is the one who turned this state to the right; Bunning just rode his coattails. Agree to disagree. Both played a part. But Bunning was the true Fiscal Conservative. Bunning also is probably one of the main reasons why you can't run with a "D" next to your name in NKY right now and win. I understand people to the left dislike his politics but you can't dismiss his influence on today's political landscape in the state.
January 24, 201511 yr There was a good program on Mr. Ford on KET last night. Probably will be repeated if anyone is interested.

January 24, 201511 yr I think it was late 90's but it may have been the same one, just updated. A few year's ago we visited the Wendell Ford Center which was also an interesting place to go.
