I wasn't questioning at all. I was being facetious. I fully understand why someone would leave public accounting. I've seen people leave for many years.

 

Ahh, my apologies then. Intent is often mistaken through the typed word. :thumb:

1) I wanted to have a life away from the office.

 

2) I'm not going to be the type of father that way too many of my co-workers were when I start having kids. Working 70+ hours a week, and never seeing your kids is not how I want to be as a dad.

 

3) Was offered a great opportunity on the corporate side by one of my clients, that paid better, was less stressful, and had a greater opportunity to advance my career.

 

Plenty of other reasons, but those were the top three....

 

Very common career path for all the reasons you noted. I followed the same one although returned to public part time as a self employed after a couple years in private. Not bad with smaller organizations although the hours started to get bad until I learned to turn down business.

I use TurboTax because of how it handles Small Businesses. Maybe I am overpaying for the software, but I'd hate to miss a Schedule C deduction.

Turbo tax is worth it if you itemize or have a small business. Regular filers it isn't worth the price.

I have always used Turbo. Ends up cost around $60-$70.
