December 31, 201411 yr ...... Some interesting things in looking at conferences as most teams have wrapped up the majority of their non-conference schedule. 1. The Big 12 has been outstanding. They have won 82.8% of their non-conf games. They are the #1 conference in RPI and will end up there in March. 2. The Big 10 has ZERO non-conference games left. Is that a league rule that you can't schedule any once conference play begins? .....The Big 12 has 9 non-conf games left. .....SEC has 20 non-conf games left. ......ACC has 18 non-conf games left. .....Big East has 3 non-conf games left. .....The American has 7 non-conf games left. .....PAC 12 has 3 non-conf games left. 3. The SEC will likely end up as the 5th best league this year. That is with having the, by far, #1 team in America. 4. The American will likely end up as the 8th best league this year....with 3 (likely) Top 50 teams. Their problem is they have 4 teams that will be outside of the Top 200. Those bottom programs have to get better. 5. The Big East is and should end up as the #2 league in America (after a fairly rough debut last year). They could have as many as 7 Top 50 teams this year....with DePaul well outside the Top 200.
December 31, 201411 yr Didn't realize the Big 12 had been so strong thus far. The Big 10 has been bad. Wisconsin is legit, but both Michigan schools have sucked. Ohio State is so-so. Maryland is in the Top 15 & has been surprising. Indiana is also better than I thought they'd be. I think the ACC is the best conference. They have four legitimate Final Four threats in Duke, UNC, UL, & Virginia. Notre Dame is also in the Top 15.
December 31, 201411 yr If UCONN can win a national title last year, then UNC is a final four threat. :lol2:
December 31, 201411 yr If UCONN can win a national title last year, then UNC is a final four threat. :lol2: Marcus Paige is no Shabazz Napier. Boatright either, for that matter.
December 31, 201411 yr The SEC stinks, but it is getting better. LSU for one will be a team on the rise to challenge UK. Florida is having a lull year after graduating essentially their entire starting lineup. Arkansas is getting better. USC with Frank Martin could become good, same thing with Pearl at Auburn. The only disappointment so far in the past few years has been Mizzou. They were a pretty decent Big 12 team. Now they stink.
