Sagemont (FL) 50 Knott County Central 49

Featured Replies

Knott County Central loses their first game of the season to a tough Sagemont (Fla) team.

Tied at 49 with 5 seconds to go, with Knott having come back from being down by 13, Knott gets called for a foul in a routine Sagemont out-of-bounds play sending them to the line for the 1 and 1. They make the first, miss the second. Knott comes down and shoots a desperation shot from beyond the top of the key and miss. Game.

The foul was a huge mistake that could easily have been avoided.:cry:

They could easily have forced overtime in this game at least. That last foul was just a very unintentional accident.

Here is a better explanation of the last foul. While I was watching I didn't know exactly what had happened but only knew that it shouldn't have.

Following a timeout by Knott County, Sagemont in-bounded the ball in the backcourt and was immediately fouled as the Patriots had a foul to give. On the ensuing in-bound play, Austin Combs fouled Luis Hurtado thinking that Knott County still had one foul to give. The foul was a seventh of the half for the Patriots and sent Hurtado to the line with four seconds remaining for a one-and-one. Hurtado sank the first free throw but missed the second as Chance Cornett grabbed the rebound and raced toward midcourt. His last-second heave hit hit the front of the rim to end the contest. - Sagemont Eases Past Knott County into Semifinals - Beach Ball Classic

Evan Hall led KCC with 14 & Cam Justice had 11.
