Has anyone ever rushed for 100+ yards in 3 consecutive state championship games?

 

Austin Hatfield, in 3 consecutive state championship games, has rushed 70 times for 454 yards.

 

Is this a first, or has it been done before?

 

2012, 19 carries for 105 yards vs. Central

2013, 21 carries for 114 yards vs. Wayne County

2014, 30 carries for 235 yards vs. Central

Didn't Pat Towles do it? I do know he was threatening the Rushing TD record in State games played. Maybe I'm wrong!

Towles was one of the ones that came to mind. I figured somebody from Beechwood may have done that in the early 90s or maybe somebody from Boyle during their run.

The other interesting stat:

Belfry has not allowed an offensive TD in back to back State Finals. That's the first time in over 40 years a team has accomplished this feat.. and only the 3rd time in the modern era since the KHSAA has been keeping record of the Finals.

 

Trinity had back to back shutouts in '72 and '73

Quinn only played in the 99 and 2000 Championship.. he went over 100 both years...but he is out as well

Hard to look at scores and tell. Paris won in 1981 and 82 by scores of 19-7 and 35-6. It is possible those scores were defensive TDs.

Central's Ace Wales had 3 straight Finals and hit the century mark his Sophomore and Junior Year...but against Belfry his Senior season had 2 carries for -1 yards after leaving with an injury

 

I'm with you Tusi... I am thinking it has to be either a Beechwood or NewCath player if anyone. Highlands and Trinity would all be rare to have a 3 year starter. Mayfield and Danville may be options as well, but with their history of great backs I am not sure how many 3 year starters either had as well, and with Mayfield they have always had such good QB's as well.

Junior year against Hazard he was held to 28 yards and his Sophomore year also failed to crack the century mark (71) against the Bulldogs.
