Jacob Smith NewCath RB My Thoughts

Featured Replies

I have been meaning to post this for a few weeks but keep forgetting. IMO this young man has really grown up and become a team player and more mature young man since his freshman year when he moved up to the varsity level. Watching him as a freshman level you could tell by the way he ran he wanted to be a part of the team, a great team and do something great. Watching a few NewCath games his soph year I almost got the feeling his attitude became more like "look at me I am good and I know it." After seeing him play 3 times this season I noticed something different than last season. I see him running hard and fighting for every yard. When he is not in the game he is right in front of sidelines cheering on his team. When he scores or anyone for the Breds score for that matter I notice he gives everyone a hi five and hug. After the extra point he walks out to greet the linemen and shows them love for the hard work they do to get the score. I did not see him do these things as much last season. I guess I am posting this to point out how this young man has grown into what looks to be a great team player. A solid young man IMO. The kid is really starting to get it and it shows. So many times people argue on here and are so fast to point out the negatives. I wanted to take a minute to point out a positive of a very talented player who is growing into a solid young man who now seems to understand what being a Thoroughbred is all about. First class in the class room, in the community, and on the field. That's my ramble today from this old Thoroughbred. I may of moved to Independence and my kids will be a proud part of Pioneer Nation but I will always love and respect what I learned in my four years playing for NewCath, wouldn't change it for anything. Like Big C always said " This school was built on top of this hill so other schools can look up on how we do things here, the right way" Bring it home boys!!

Jake is playing on a different level the past month or so, lets see it one more week.

BTW, nice write up.

Wow.. I want to say you hit it on the head.. This is much respected by he's family and friends.. Way to go Jacob.. NCC was the best choice and I'm so happy for you... Go Breds!

Good to hear...best way to get the attention of the college coaches is to maintain your composure and play as a team player. The talent will shine regardless.

Best of luck Breds and Jacob.

Wow!!

I came across this thread. Jacob has been contacted by several D1 school he went to Ohio Junior day, and is planning on going to EKU Junior day. The kids is a pretty good running back. I believe he is very close to 6'0 tall and right around 190 pounds now. He is probably the best running back in NKY. Here are some facts about him. With a solid senior campaign Jacob Smith will go down as one of the most productive running backs in Newport Central Catholic history.
