December 4, 201411 yr I think a large part of it is just that teams are so focused on "running the offense" if they don't have that fast break opportunity. So they'll basically just run the shot clock down some until about 10-15 seconds are left. Back in the day, offenses didn't move the ball as much before they got their best opportunity.
